Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT LASER(S) DO YOU USE? 🠮
We use the most up to date modalities to maximize results and comfort with our sharp Light FORMAX IPL laser machine that uses a patented a patented 3 in 1 DPC (Dynamic Pulse Control), which provides three different pulse configurations in one system, delivering maximum results at all treatment stages for all skin types.
WHAT IS PERMANENT LASER HAIR REDUCTION? 🠮
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. The hair can only be removed in the ANAGEN or also known as the 'growth stage', to which only 20-30% of all the hair on your body is in at any given time, which is why multiple sessions are required to achieve maximum results.
During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles. This damage inhibits future hair growth. Each treatment reduces the hair by approximately 25%.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT? 🠮
No one can guarantee a 100% percent permanent hair removal. However, we can achieve permanent hair reduction up to 86%.Depending on each individual, you might need a few touch-ups down the road.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL? 🠮
Laser hair removal damages the follicles of the targeted hairs. The body reacts to this, and many people experience slight redness and irritation in the affected areas. The skin may tingle or feel tender, and may even appear to swell slightly.
The symptoms are usually short-lived and the affected area may look similar to skin that has just been waxed or plucked. Irritation usually after the initial reaction, usually within a few hours of the treatment.

DOES LASER CAUSE CANCER? 🠮
The light energy from these lasers only breach the superficial level of the skin. These lasers do not damage DNA, nor will they cause DNA mutations.
DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL HURT? 🠮
It is normal to feel slight discomfort, especially in more sensitive areas such as the underarms, but there should be no pain in the treated area.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR LASER? 🠮
A consultation with your laser technician is the best way to determine whether your hair removal or skin rejuvenation goals are achievable. However, the best candidates for laser hair removal are those with dark hair and lighter skin although melanin rich skin can still receive treatments with the same expected results. This is because the technology targets the pigment of the hair to destroy the growth. If the pigment is not “visible” to the laser (such as very light coloured hair) it is not able to be treated as easily. In general, the greater the contrast in colour from skin to hair, the easier it is to treat.

WHAT TO DO AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL? 🠮
Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment. Stubble, representing dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. that is normal & they will fall out quickly.
Exfoliate to speed up hair shedding.
Do not use self-tanner or spray tan products for at least 2 weeks before your treatment to avoid potential injury.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (spf 25 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.
Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area. Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. do not use any other hair removal methods or products, other than shaving, on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.
On average, most will experience a level of hairless happiness after 6-9 sessions which will result in not even checking for stubble (yes, it’s life changing!)

HOW MANY LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS DO I NEED? 🠮
It depends. Most men and women need a series of 6 – 10 treatments, each spaced out about 4 to 8 weeks apart for optimal results.
If you ever have new hair growth in the treated area again, you can always come back to Allie's Beauty Lounge for touch-up treatments as needed.

WHEN CAN I SEE RESULTS? 🠮
Results can be seen immediately.. yes Immediately! Every hair on our body has three phases of hair growth: Anagen (active stage), Catagen (short transitional phase between the Anagen and Telogen) and Telogen (resting phase preparing to reset into the Anagen stage). All three phases occur simultaneously. Each hair follicle is independent and goes through the growth cycle at different times, otherwise all your hair would fall out at once. At any given time about 85%-90% of your hair is in the Anagen phase, 1-2% is in the Catagen phase, and 10-14% is in the Telogen phase. Hair growth cycles vary greatly depending on whether the client is male or female. Ethnicity and health issues can also determine patterns of growth. Treating in the correct phase of the growth cycle and knowing your medical and ethnic history impacts the success of the laser hair removal treatments.
